Lincoln Park Two's

Thursday and Friday from 9:30 - 11:30 am

Introduction

Play, play, play…and more play. Two-year-olds love to play, explore, and express themselves, touching, feeling, pushing and pulling. They assert their independence, exploring their surroundings, while still being attached to their caregivers—needing the familiar presence and reassurance provided with a smile or a hug. Each day preschool children learn through play, making strides socially, emotionally and physically. They are growing rapidly in both mind and body. They’re constantly changing—one moment they can be laughing and happy, the next frustrated and crying. Two-year-olds are interested in other children and people around them, but they tend to play alongside children as opposed to with children. They are the centers of their own universe—“what’s mine is mine”, “what’s yours is mine”. Their favorite words tend to be “Mine”, “No”, and “Do it myself” or “I do it!”

Teacher: Heidi Van Brost Parent Educator: Linda Chase
Parents monthly meeting: Second Monday of each month

As a parent, Heidi Van Brost has been involved with Lincoln Park Cooperative Preschool since 2004, when her oldest daughter was two years old. She embraces the co-op values and utilizes her experiences in the classroom. As a teacher, Heidi began her first year in September 2007. Encouraged by other co-op parents and teachers, she applied for the position. She’s so happy she did. She loves teaching and puts her whole heart into it. She spends time with each child every day of class, striving to develop a trusting, respectful relationship with the children and parents. Her background includes volunteering in kindergarten classes, instructing snowboarding to both children and adults, tutoring ESL students, substitute teaching in preschool classes, teaching Spanish, and motherhood. She enjoys hiking, snowboarding, camping, walks on the beach, stewardship of the Earth, gardening, music and spending time with her kids and her class.
